In the words of Dolly Levi in “The Matchmaker”, “Money is not worth a thing unless it’s spread around encouraging young things to grow.” Indeed, nurturing and encouraging young people to grow; fostering their interest in language, literature and the theater is precisely what your generous contribution to Elm Shakespeare Company does. Your gift not only allows Elm Shakespeare to bring free live theater to New Haven each summer, but it also enables the company to reach out to the community with educational programs throughout the year. Whether it is our high school residency program, now in its' 15th year, or our touring productions, theatre internships or camps; our mission is to inspire and attract young people, and to encourage them to grow.
The Elm Shakespeare Company is committed to providing quality educational programming; including residencies, collaborations with other service organizations, after school programs and summer camps. By fostering an interest in language and theatre early on it is the Elm Shakespeare Company’s goal to engage young people and to inspire them to have a life long interest in the arts.
These are uncertain times. But let us not forget the power of the arts to captivate and transform. Each summer Elm Shakespeare’s performances draw over 30,000 people, united as one community under the stars, sharing the beauty and the magic of live theater. Now, more than ever, the arts play a vital role; nourishing our spirits, our souls, our lives and our children.
To our friends, both old and new, we ask that you help us preserve this valuable gift to our community and to our children with a donation to the annual appeal. Your gift does indeed encourage young things to grow!
With warm regards,
Cheever Tyler
