 In the summer of 2007 The Elm Shakespeare Company, in collaboration with the Housing Authority of New Haven, presented “An Introduction to Theatre”; A summer day camp for the residents of Monterey Place in New Haven, offering children ages 8-14 the opportunity to learn how a play is created. The children were invited behind-the-scenes to observe rehearsals and set construction, meet the cast and crew of the Elm Shakespeare Company, create scenes, participate in dance and stage combat workshops, create art projects and enjoy the magic of the theatre. The program culminated with the campers and their families attending the performances in Edgerton Park.
